Welcome to Aloha Hilo. Let us come together to ponder, reflect, share, dream, converse around the ideas of kuleana as educators and ‘ohana in the Hilo community. Let’s start with these fundamental questions:
What knowledge is worth having that is engaging and appropriate for this time and for our community of Hilo?
What skills are worth practicing?
What knowledge is worth passing on?
What can we do, big or small, to help revitalize the culture of relationships, the health of all people and to malama our beloved place of Hilo Paliku, Hilo One and Hilo Hanakahi?
As transformational educators we are interested in what is changing within ourselves and what has enduring value. By knowing this and practicing it in all that we do we are bringing a clarity to education and to community that will embrace our love of place and each other.
It is so fundamental for our children to be out on the land. Digging, clearing, cleaning, planting, and reconnecting to the `aina and to each other. This is the start to rebuilding all of our relationships. E komo mai a e kuka kuka (come inside and let’s talk story). Check out the pages, pictures, video and links and share your mana’o.
